Join us for the first outing of 2020 at I’on Swamp Interpretive Trail! This 2 mile trail winds through a gorgeous swamp in the middle of the Francis Marion National Forest. The swamp and its adjacent ephemeral wetlands generally support a great diversity of winter-emerging amphibians this time of year, like Spotted Salamanders (Ambystoma maculatum) -- our state amphibian. With recent warm spells, many other unexpected herps, like turtles and snakes, may pop up as we follow the trail. We…
